Ledger Nano X Review: Secure Your Crypto Today
If you’re getting serious about self-custody, the Ledger Nano X is one of the most common entry points into hardware crypto wallets—and for good reason. The design is basically a USB-stick form factor with a metal swivel cover, small OLED screen, and two-button navigation. It’s simple but durable enough to throw in a bag without worrying about damaging it. The big upgrade over cheaper Ledger models is Bluetooth + an internal battery, which lets you manage assets directly from your phone instead of always plugging into a computer.
Performance here isn’t about speed; it’s about security and reliability. The Nano X uses a CC EAL5+ secure element chip (similar to what’s used in passports and payment cards) to keep private keys isolated from your PC or phone. Transactions are signed on the device itself, meaning even a compromised computer can’t access your keys. The companion Ledger Live app handles most tasks—buying, staking, and tracking assets—and the device supports thousands of cryptocurrencies and tokens.
Compared with higher-end wallets like Ledger Stax or Trezor Safe models, the Nano X trades a touchscreen and premium UI for portability and proven reliability.
Pros: strong security model, mobile support via Bluetooth, huge asset compatibility.
Cons: tiny screen, button navigation, and the Ledger ecosystem has faced criticism over firmware trust concerns in the past.
Most similar low-cost option: Ledger Nano S Plus. It offers the same security architecture but drops Bluetooth and battery, making it much cheaper while still providing true cold storage.
