The Evangelical vs the Social Justice Warrior: The Warring Moral Systems
I and a lot of people wonder why Evangelicals, who flaunt their morality, are the group most supportive of a man seemingly lacking in even the smallest bit of morality and virtue.
I think people with that type of moral leaning fundamentally derive their morality from their conception of order.
Their morality derives from their desire to protect an existing social order. The outcome from their framework is social stability at the cost of injustice.
Because when the social structure of the time allowed slavery, the denial of rights, prohibition against gay marriage, people like evangelicals defended that social structure over any morality that would provide justice and equality
The oppositional archetype is the social justice warrior, who is attempting to erect a new social order in service of their morality. When SJWs try to cancel people, they are attempting to establish new rules for society (a new social order) based on their morality (beliefs about bigotry, harm).
The flaw of such a framework is that one group posits that it has the right to decide the morality for an entire society and dissolving existing moral norms.
Circling back to the central point, I previously failed to understand why Evangelicals support a man lacking in morals and virtue. The answer is, evangelicals don't care much for morality but care order about preserving social order.
