Solo travel in Norway

Hi all! I am hoping to take a 7-10 day trip this summer to the Lofoten islands. I’m a female solo American traveler. I’m wanting to either do some camping or stay in hostels in an effort to keep the trip budget friendly. I’ve heard Norway is very safe, but am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of traveling solo and potentially sleeping outdoors?

Additionally, while I understand the universal distaste towards Americans, I am wondering if we are welcome at this time (with the assumption we are respectful, of course)
