which is the best way to add memory to an ipod mini?

I bought an ipod mini 2nd gen. the memory is pretty lacking (6gb).

i looked into cf cards but they cost almost as much as what i paid for the ipod itself. plus i am not tech-savvy so i could mess it up if i open it up.

is it worth expanding the memory and if so how do i go about this? thanks for your help. also; if i were to buy a cf card is the sandisk extreme 32gb one good? i heard some don't work.
