I launched a stock research app last month and marketing it has been brutal. Looking for feedback
I have been building an app to research stocks and track super investors, and looking for some honest feedback.
Building the app was surprisingly not that hard. Marketing it and getting real feedback has been much harder.
For context on why I built the app, I noticed that most tools for investing live on websites. If you want to follow investors like Warren Buffett or Bill Ackman, or research company fundamentals, it usually requires digging through different sites on a laptop.
But most people spend way more time on their phones than on a laptop. I think there is a misconception that you cannot really do serious stock research on an iOS app, so I wanted to try building something that proves you can.
Some apps track investor portfolios. Other apps show company fundamentals. But, I have not found many that combine both in a useful way. My idea was to show the investors’ portfolios alongside the fundamentals of the companies they own, and visualize how positions change over time. To help investors get the full picture.
Another big focus for me is making the data very easy to understand, even for someone that might not have any background in finance or investing. I have spent plenty of time trying to understand companies on Yahoo Finance, and while the data is there, it can be hard to see the bigger picture. I am a visual learner, so I wanted charts that show trends and portfolio changes in a way that is easier to digest.
I am actually a professional civil engineer and work on large urban projects. I have always loved investing though. Last September I decided to try building a stock research app for myself.
The catch is that I had ZERO coding experience lol
Following the vibe coding trend, I noticed with newer AI’s like Claude Code and Codex, I realized it might actually be possible to make this app. The entire app was built with those tools, although there was still A LOT to learn around backend systems, caching, and pulling data from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings like 10-K, 10-Q, and 13F reports.
I launched the app about a month ago, and honestly the hardest part has been marketing it and getting real feedback lol
If anyone here would be open to trying it and sharing honest thoughts, I would really appreciate it. It is completely risk free. There is a one-week free trial and everything runs through Apple’s subscription system. I do not collect user data and canceling is easy.
Would genuinely love to hear what people think or what features would make something like this useful.
