Today's Rant: Contractors & Change

Let me start by stating this as clearly as possible. I am not a bank.

I have limited times I can make change. If you or someone else buys something from me in cash and expects me to make change, especially if you want me to break a hundred, I expressly cannot break it if others have already taken all my change. It is the weekend. Banks are not open. And even if they were, I am working solo on a Sunday. I could not leave even if I wanted to.

I opened an hour ago. The fact that you need change is not my problem. The fact you refuse to go to a gas station and get change is not my problem.

"WHY WONT YOU TAKE UNITED STATES CURRENCY?!?!" because four fucking numb nuts before you decided to buy a purdy brush or a purdy roller cover and pay with a franklin. I have sixty in ones and ten in fives. And that's between two registers.

Let's break this down crayons and Barney style. If you owe me twenty dollars, and are paying with a hundred, how much money do I need to give you in change? That's right! Eighty dollars! Good job! And what's seventy dollars minus eighty dollars? Negative ten.

I am not a bank. I have never been a bank. Getting pissed off at me serves no purpose. It's a waste of my patience, and a waste of my time. It's a Sunday. I have other things I need to be doing. Screaming at me over this is just fucking stupid.

In the end, he did get his change from a gas station. He took great pleasure in telling me how they actually understand how to do their jobs and give change. It's apparently basic fucking math. Yeah. It really is.

I hate it here sometimes.
