AITAH for not having my phone on silent all the time?
Just had a snarky comment from my wife and daughter about why my phone is 'always' on vibrate. We were all in the living room and got the fire on and got comfy, me and my wife went for a nap and my wife said she got woken up by the vibrate on my phone, btw this is 5pm in the afternoon (its a sunday).
And she's had an issue with this before aswell, not specifically being woken up from a nap by the 'vibrate' but just the phone being on vibrate in general. Like if someone messages me like 3 messages consecutively it will obviously vibrate 3 times, and she just looks over with the death stare as if its the most annoying thing ever and/or with a "your PHONE is vibrating AGAIN" type of tone.
She then says "why isn't it on silent?".......and my plain answer is because it goes on silent when you're at the cinema, or at meeting etc. I don't put it on silent when I'm not somewhere thats doesn't require it to be silent. If someone calls me i would like to know etc
I asked how do they know if someone is calling them right then or not......"i dont, i just call them back". What if its something that is important that they need an answer right then and there, like if they are asking if you want anything from the supermarket whilst you're there........answer was 🤷🏽♂️.
I said i dont always answer my phone because if thats the case its probably in a different room at the time or I'm doing something etc and unable to. Whereas hers would be by choice, you're choosing to put it on silent until you check it. Oh and her reasoning is that she checks it often, thats why she has it on silent. It still doesn't help if you need an answer from her straight away about something though.
So AITAH for not always choosing to have my phone on silent? 🤷🏽♂️
