How would your feel if...

Your dm asked you to change your character arc?

I ran about 9 months of Obojima before we went on hiatus over winter. Now we're looking to get back into playing again and I've been reflecting a lot about what I liked and disliked about our time so far.

One of the PC's was in with the Lionfish King some many years ago and has done some things that he's not proud of. He wants to have an "Iron Giant" like vibe to his character now.

We've rolled with it for a while, and I think I'm the only one that isn't enjoying it. It's not really what I envisioned for the whimsical setting and I think it's going to overshadow the corrupted ranger.

Id like to work with my player to find a different direction for his character without dictating the story he has to have. What sort of reactions might I expect before going and talking to the player?
