Strictly breastfed newborn hasn’t pooped in 7 days—normal or should I be concerned?

Pee and Poop

Looking for some advice or reassurance from other parents. My newborn is strictly breastfed and hasn’t had a real poop in 7 days. What’s confusing is that she used to have big, normal poops pretty regularly, and then it just kind of stopped.

To be clear, she has had little skid marks and tiny wet-looking poops in her diaper during this time, but nothing like the bigger bowel movements she was having before. She’s also having tons of wet diapers, so the pee output seems totally normal.

She seems generally fine otherwise—feeding well, not unusually fussy, and acting like her normal self. It’s just strange because we went from frequent poops to basically none.

I’ve read that breastfed babies can sometimes go longer between poops, but 7 days feels like a lot, especially since there are only these tiny smears instead of a real bowel movement.

Has anyone experienced this with a strictly breastfed newborn? Is this something that can be normal, or is it a sign we should call the pediatrician? Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated.
