How did we remember to manually adjust the clocks every daylight savings before the internet?

I remember just knowing and doing it every year as a kid, but I don't really remember how we knew that or kept up with it.

I just woke up with my phone alarm this morning and realized the clock said an hour earlier and went "oh yeah that was last night I guess..."
