Does anyone else feel like referring to others/being referred to as “Bud” or “Buddy” (from adult to adult) is demeaning/dismissive?

Some people seem to think that it’s the same as calling someone “dude” or “bro,” but I can’t help but feel like the term “buddy” is different in some way. I only call children and dogs buddy.
