Media that takes an adult-oriented series/story and makes it lighter and softer?

We all know about media that takes some childhood thing/thing aimed at children and makes it darker and edgier (and more immature), y'know the kinda stuff that's like "what if they smoked and did drugs and shot guns and fucked". But I wanna know if theirs any media that does the opposite, media that takes something aimed at adults and makes it lighter and softer/a Saturday Morning Cartoon? Like when South Park took the band Korn and turned them into the Mystery Inc.
