Birth Control Month Long Period?

Hi. I’ve been on Sprintec for about 3 years, and this has happened almost every year. I had the flu at the end of january, and unfortunately missed a couple of pills due to how unbelievably sick i was. I ended up starting my period early, and then my birth control didn’t get filled so i ended up taking it LATER than i usually would. Since then, I’ve been bleeding for about a month. Up until today, it was

bright red spotting with some clots and enough to need a thin pad. As of today, I believe i started my “actual” period since i am bleeding so much and having larger blood clots. Should i continue the use of my birth control until it stops, or should i treat this like my placebo week and begin after 4 days? (i usually give myself a placebo week so i can have a period.) I tried the ibuprofen trick for a couple of days, but nothing is helping.
