Has Reddit become harder for genuine discussion lately?

Something I have been noticing recently and wanted to ask others here.

I have been trying to post in a few communities to ask questions and start discussions about writing, research, and publishing. Nothing promotional. No links. No selling anything. Just trying to ask questions and learn from people who know more.

But a lot of the time the posts get removed by automods or rules that are not always obvious at first. Sometimes it feels like before people even read what you are trying to say, the system just blocks it. You try to adjust the post, follow the rules, message mods, rewrite again, and still it can get flagged.

I completely understand that moderation is necessary. Without rules communities would turn into spam very quickly. But sometimes it feels like the balance has shifted so much toward preventing spam that normal discussion becomes harder.

It makes me curious about something.

Do others feel like Reddit has become more difficult for genuine conversations compared to before? Or maybe I am just approaching communities the wrong way.

I would honestly like to hear how people navigate posting in different subs without getting automatically filtered.
