Best simcade for singleplayer with controller?

 Question

I played only sims recently, mostly modded Assetto and iRacing, but I'm traveling a lot nowdays and don't have access to my setup most of the time. So I'm looking for something to play on my laptop with controller in the meantime.

The only ones that I played in the last few years are Forza Horizon 4 and Burnout Paradise.

In Forza I loved the handling on controller (hell, even keyboard), and the map was well made, also loved recreating fast and furious cars in that.

But for me the negatives outweight the positives in this one. I hated the shitty ai, the rubberbanding is one thing, but it was just bad all around. Not to mention it just broke on custom maps all the time. Other than that I hated having to do that stupid forzathon challange to get some cars. And it had zero feeling of progression, you can just get any car from the get go, very bad in a singleplayer standpoint.

Burnout is a fantastic game all around, but too arcade for my current tastes.

When I was a kid I played all the og need for speeds, hot pursuit, underground 1-2, most wanted, carbon. They are too arcadey for me now, but the progression was fantastic in those.

Is there anything that combines the single played of need for speeds with the cars and handling of Forza?
