Possible Ringworm and Getting New Kittens...help!!
So, we had a friend over to the house who brought her new cat. After two weeks, I noticed a red spot on myself, and my kids. I have gone to or sent photos of the spots to like 4 doctors including 2 dermatologists. They can't agree as to whether it's ringworm or whether it's dermatitis or something else. One of the doctors took a culture but it takes 5-8 days. It's just weird that it showed up about 10-14 days after, and that we all are getting a spot here and there.
I've been treating everyone with the OTC anti-fungals and sanitizing my house, but the hiccup in this is that we are getting two new kittens this week. I don't want to expose these poor kittens in case it is ringworm. My son's spots are already fading...I just don't know what this is. Some articles I read say it's not contagious after 48 hours, others say it's going to take months to get rid of...
Does anyone have advice as to how I can safely have the kids interact with the kittens? I am going a little nuts trying to make sure the house is clean and doing everything I can before they arrive. I just feel defeated because every other post I read is about how difficult this is to get rid of, assuming it is ringworm.
Thanks for any help/advice that anyone could give me.
