Chatting in Brawl Stars

Is it just me that can't use the chat even though I always could?. Since I started playing again after a long break I cannot write in the chat and am only able to use pins or the quick phrases. I heard it's because of the age of the account, but I'm sure that's not the problem, as I also saw it ages (if you put 20 as your age and wait one year the account's age will be 21). Any idea what's the reason behind this?
