Why is there no pride in the Tacoma among enthusiasts like there is for the Hilux?
The Toyota Tacoma has consistently been the best selling Mid Size Truck in the US. It’s a product that Toyota developed primarily for the North American market and they keep updating it with a new generation instead of just bringing the Hilux over and building it here. But yet among enthusiasts they would much rather Toyota bring the Hilux over and it doesn’t seem to be a grass is greener situation since no other country that has the Hilux looks at the Tacoma the way Americans look at the Hilux. Except maybe Japan I’ve seen some videos of Tacoma and Tundra imports there. So what’s going on is the Hilux just that much a better Pickup than the Tacoma, if so why does Toyota waste time and money making a new generation of the Tacoma?
