My girls
I met myself as a baby
I held her tightly to my chest
I gently held her hands
I kissed her on the head
I met myself as a toddler
I got down on her level
I told her a story about a kitten
Then we ate sugar and strawberries together
I met myself as a child
She was loud, confident, and a leader
She told me about her stories
Of others worlds and other people
She wore little cotton dresses
She ran barefoot in the grass
She had messy hair
And she was full of sass
I met myself a teenager
She was quiet and insecure
She no longer liked to standout
She no longer liked to wonder
She was tired and had dark circles
But she still wore a smile
I loved myself as a teenager
I wish I told her that more
I met myself as an adult
She was learning to standout more
She was much happier than she’d been
She was still quiet and kind
But now she was confident
She had success on her mind
I met myself at middle age
She was so happy to meet me
She told about what she had done
And what she was planning to do
She had a heart full of love
And a mind that knew what to do
I met myself as an old women
She had lines from smiling so much
She hands were wrinkled and worn
From playing music and keeping children warm
She told about her life
And that she was thankful for Christ
And thankful for His kingdom
She told me life is worth living
She told me to be brave
Not hold back
Not be ashamed
She told me to love Jesus
To always but Him first
She told me (I) was special
That I was full of worth
I’m thankful for my versions
And All the girls I’ve been
I love each special girl
Because they’re The girls that made me,
Me
