For context, I had a friend I’ll call Amy. I met her when I was 22 and she was in her 40s through a women’s support group that my mom and I were part of. I really looked up to her at the time. I even introduced her to my best friend Christine and got close with her kids.

After a while Amy stopped coming to the group and slowly stopped responding to me. Eventually she ghosted completely. Later I heard from someone else that she had been talking negatively about my mom and me, calling us fake, which really hurt because we never had any conflict with her. On the contrary, I was the person constantly reaching out to her to make sure she doesn’t succumb to depression. 

Later I found out my best friend Christine had still been hanging out with Amy and never mentioned it. I told her at the time it made me uncomfortable but tried to brush it off because Christine was pregnant and I didn’t want to stress her.

Yesterday, I went to a funeral and saw my Aunt that was also part of the women’s group. She’s not my actual aunt, just another woman I looked up to. But seeing her made me think of Amy. So I text Christine to see if she still talks to her and how she’s been. She said yes and that Amy now goes by a different name. I just text Christine what’s on my mind and this was her response. She’s a very caring person but I still feel like I don’t know where she really stands.
