What has you worried? What could be holding this game back?
I want to start off by saying that THIS IS NOT a "shit post" or to be hateful towards the game at all. I want the game to succeed and be great. I LOVE an amazing open world game like Read Dead Redemption 2, Tears of the Kingdom, Skyrim, Elden Ring, Ghost of Yotei, etc.
However with some or most open world games, there comes a time where the game immediately starts to get too repetitive or becomes a checklist. "Go here, clear base, kill boss, open map, set waypoint, go there clear base, kill boss, REPEAT". After 30+ hours you have unlocked everything almost, you have SEEN everything almost, and you are just on autopilot trying to beat the game. Think AC Valhalla,
Here is my question for discussion. What do you think will hold this game back after we play 50 hours? What has you worried? Does your subconscious tell you that Crimson Desert might get old after awhile trying to clear similar bases over and over again?
Here are my thoughts..... Please keep in mind this is just me thinking. I dont know if this is true or not since no one has seen or played the game. I am worried there wont be enough varied content to do around this HUGE open world. I am worried that it might feel like a Ubisoft game after so many hours or after clearing out another camp for the 30th time. I am worried about the NPCs just standing around. I am worried about fetch quests and how many there could be.
After playing RDR2, the ONE thing I look forward to in any open world game (B/c I truly think this is next-gen for open worlds and I feel any open world NEEDS to implement this into their game) is random encounters. In RDR2 there are over 250 random encounters that truly make the world feel alive. It is rumored that GTA6 will have over 1200 of these.
Anyway, what are you thoughts or worries? What would make the game go from a 9.5/10 down to a 7.5/10?
