PSA to stop using PSA and switch to any other grading company

This is how PSA works:

You DO NOT KNOW how much your card will cost to grade. Especially if it’s very valuable.

Take a base set, shadowless Zard for example.

How PSA works (as a prospective customer, I have called them and confirmed this over the phone), is that you send in your card(s) with an estimate from you of what condition they are in (why do they need YOU to do any work at all?).

Then. They grade said card based on if they’ve had their coffee or not that day (grades vary wildly. even for the same card)

Then they bill you… ON A PERCENTAGE OF THE CURRENT MARKET VALUE OF THE NEWLY GRADED CARD

So. For a base set, shadowless Zard. You could be out for AT LEAST a FEW $100s to $1000s of $$$

And you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA when you’re mailing it all in.

And arguably the best part: when they demand their ransom (be honest with yourself, that’s what this pricing structure is) they HOLD YOUR CARDS HOSTAGE if you cannot afford to pay $1000s of dollars…

This is only allowed to happen if people continue to support this practice.

How ANY OTHER grading company works:

You pay a reasonable price per card when you mail them out.

The company performs the service.

They send you your cards- no questions asked.

So grade with any other company that charges a reasonable fee upfront, performs the service, and sends back your cards like a normal company.
