Analysis: Chance the Rapper - "First World Problems"

Artist: Chance the Rapper Song: First World Problems Released: September 26, 2017

Lyric:

I thought about stone mattresses, thin blankets Really long winters spent in a windbreaker

Context (via Genius):

Chance describes some of the thoughts that pushed him away from sin. In Genesis 3, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they forced mankind into a life of sin and struggle. Chance realizes that without God he has to live an uncomfortable lifestyle.

This could also refer to Chance’s work with the homeless. Sidewalks being “stone mattresses” and Chance did specifically donate to help the homeless get coats.
