Do people really think phones are out the entire time at a show? Like nonstop?
I go to “mainstream” productions a lot and I gotta say I don’t mind phones being out briefly or to record a song you like. I also rarely see phones out for extended periods of time.
By briefly I mean maybe a minute or two, and not like 5 minutes straight. I find that at these events people are usually dancing or vibing and maybe here and there they’ll pull out their phones to take a flick of a popular part of a song, a fire drop or something like that. And naturally those are the videos that get posted with tons of phones out too. The only thing that really annoys me is constant yapping but again, this isnt unexpected.
Even when I attend smaller shows and legit underground raves which are word of mouth / hosted by collectives there’s still phones out occasionally. But is it that big of a deal? I only have heard complaining in person once ever and that was fred again’s recent residency where he explicitly wanted no phones.
Im wondering if this is more of a younger vs older crowd thing more than artist specific. I know this horse has literally been pulverized into mincemeat here but im wondering what your thoughts are and your age
*By “mainstream” I’d say storehouse shows like rezz, subtronics, crankdat, chris lake. Other venues that have hosted artists like fred again, wooli, juelz, etc. Even smaller venues like Eliminate at Silo, or Alignment at 99 Scott. I honestly dont know what mainstream necessarily means outside of big productions.
