What is the appeal of these awful hats

"In my women's sports era" suggests that supporting women's sports is a finite, fleeting thing. Like it's a trend fans will eventually abandon. That's something I expect a corporation to privately believe, but to put it on merch and expect fans to agree with the sentiment is beyond insulting. So why am I seeing so many of you guys seemingly excited for a hat that undermines the whole idea of women's sports as high-quality competition that we'll be supporting for the long run? I would really like to understand.
