Scalp or HOC adjustment timing

For those of you with bermuda grass, what is your timing for your scalp or hight adjustment mowing? Is it usually your first cut of the season? I’m in West Tennessee and I am trying to figure out when to cut this grass down for the growing season. My last cut of last year was at 3½”. I would like to get it down to 1 to 1½ inches to start with. I have sprinklers and don’t want to chop them off. Am I on the right track?
