Any Experience With Unintentional Crayfish Mating?
For Christmas, I bought my kids an aquarium and let them pick out their fish. I knew my youngest wanted something crab like and we bought two Brazos dwarf crayfish. They've been awesome and thriving. Several molts each and have probably doubled in size since we brought them home. They typically spend time in different parts of the tank, but this morning I found one on top of the other with the bottom pinned on its back. My first thought was one had died. I nudged the top crayfish and both skedaddled away. Quick Google search and realize they may have been (probably were) mating. Just wondering if this has happened to others who weren't trying to mate their crayfish and what I should expect to happen over the next few weeks. 10gal tank might be too small for a crayfish explosion.
