I currently own a 2022 higherlander xle V6. I leased it in 2022, and later purchased it at the expiration of the lease in 2024. At that time it had 19,000 miles. Recently I tried to trade it in for Lexus 350RX which has always been my dream car, but the offers I was getting did not make sense, so I decided to keep it, afterall, it is the same Toyota brand. Now, after reading about the transmission problem with the 2022 highlander, I am worried because I do not have an extended warranty on the highlander. The current mileage is 23, 000. I am worried about this problem popping up down the road at 60,000 plus miles. I am again considering to get rid of the car and get the Lexus which I always wanted. The balance on the highlander is $24,000, and my monthly payment is $653. I have been making additional payments inorder to pay it off early and be free of car payments. My dilema is that getting a new Lexus 350RX will come with higher monthly payments, and if I go for a fairly used one, I am afraid I could end up with a lemon. I am a 61 yr old female single parent with $150,000 annual income.
Please advise.
