Seasonal reset

What does the seasonal reset include? I heard it includes the faction upgrades. If that's the case, won't it be too grindy if it resets every season with no permanent upgrades? Also, I saw that in the next season it will include a system called "The Cradle." Will that replace the current faction upgrades?
