I don't care about gossip, and I feel like it's ruining my friendship
I know gossip can mean all sorts of different things, and I still listen and want to be kept updated about major decisions, but I really do not care about what someone did 2 years ago and whatnot.
I'm someone who really aren't that socially aware. Sometimes my friends would have to point out to me someones annoying or got on their nerves, because I wouldn't realize it or hold a grudge worth talking about at all. Once my friends pointed out a person had been pestering them and they felt so annoyed, but to me it was minor inconvenience at best, and flew by my head in like the 2 seconds that whatever it was happened. Point is, I couldn't care less about other people's dark secrets or stuff. I still want to know important things, if someone got into a relationship or worked somewhere new, but my attention span stops there.
My friends gossip a lot though, knows everything about everyone. They used to tell me sometimes, but I'd react so indifferently that eventually they don't tell me anything much anymore. Didn't even know my friends broke up with their bf, joked about it once, and got laughed at. And it seems to somewhat be one of the only things I can grab on to bond with them somehow, so I felt obligated to listen, learn details, share, and react to stuff the way they expect from me, like super over the top to show I'm interested or some. And I'd feel really bad for not reacting correctly, being too careless or boring (cuz I get it, you have sth you wanna share, and you would want some sort of reaction too), for not having anything to share and make the conversation die down, that I feel like I'm slowly drifting apart from them. In some way they would all have this friend that they tell their important stuff to (apparently everyone but me), and it would take me a few days or week to get to that point. Once another friend (B) told me some smal random story about my friend (A), and when I brought it up to A jokingly, she seemed off and said she didn't want me to know, asking who told me that story.
I really don't know how to react to that stuff, how to ask questions and dig deeper, how to add to the conversation except occassional "damn"s and "no way"s. And I feel that makes me boring to talk to, that eventually they don't have anything to talk to me any more than necessary, or don't consider telling me anything at all.
They won't consider telling me the big things in their life anymore, and I'd just have to laugh off once I learn the news probably weeks later, in a group that already knew every possible detail there was to know. I stopped updating them much about my life too, and I fear it's backfiring.
How do I become more considerate? More interesting to talk to? Is it even possible now
