Help with dry skin, especially on lower legs

🧪 Protocols & Self-Experiments

Quick background : Make, 37, in the UK. Recent full bloods show everything is "normal".

I have had dry skin on my extremities (lower legs, forearms mainly) for some time. But recently I have noteliced my legs are getting really dry and flaky.

I also have aquagenic pruritis which makes moisturising a bit of a pain as it sets off my itching big time. I can pre-emp this by taking Beta Alanine (magical supplement for some who have aquagenic pruritis) but I don't want to take it all the time as there have been a number of anecdotal cases of the supplement suddenly no longer working. I don't want to risk building up any sort of resistance to it as the post-shower itch is the most horrendous thing.

So, other than moisturisers and emollient creams, is there anything else I can do to combat this dry skin?

I am always well hydrated (I think). Drink 2+ litres of water per day, electrolytes, and eat fresh fruit and veg.

My diet is pretty good, mainly fresh meat, unprocessed or at least minimally processed carbs, fruit and veg. Occasional chocolate binge but nothing huge.

Drink a fair amount of coffee but am reducing that.

Any hints, tips, or advice welcomed!
