Trail walk for a fear reactive walk?
Hey everyone. I’ve got a 2 year old fear reactive dog that loves going on walks, the problem is he’s not good with other dogs and he acts like a complete fool lol. We work with a trainer, so we’re tackling it but if you have a reactive dog…you know it can take a lot of time. He barks, shakes and thrashes. He’s never tried to bite a dog or anyone, he just makes a big scene. The off chance a dog does get too close he actually retreats and tries to get away. So he’s not aggressive and a bite risk, he’s just so scared.
I have another dog who is an angel who’s great with everyone and everything. I’d love to take them both on a trail walk that isn’t super busy and you’re able to put distance between you another person with a dog if possible. I believe every dog deserves walks that provide enrichment and joy. Finding spots like that? Different story lol. I want to make sure he’s having a good time but also other people around aren’t having a terrible time if they come into contact with our dog. So a tiny trail with no room to go off the path and make space doesn’t really work for us or other people :(.
I’m willing to go anywhere from Ladysmith to Qualicum if there’s a good place to check out! If you don’t want to share a location you like in the comments, please feel free to DM me!
TIA!
