Overlooking McGroarty for a recall was a small, but significant, mistake

He still leads the team in on-ice shares of shot attempts and unblocked shots. Avery Hayes has not found his footing at the NHL level just yet and in my opinion, it’s not the time for him to be settling in. Koivunen’s puck skills with space (like on the PP) and Hayes’ speed are bigger scoring “threats”, but my eye test clearly has McGroarty as our most NHL-ready prospect. And the stats are there. We need pucks deep!

He obviously doesn’t transform this roster, but these little lineup decisions are suddenly crucial with 3 everyday forwards out, and not even having him available was a mistake. IMO
