Scams in renting

What are some of the worst scams you guys have been a part of?

I'll go first

Back in 2024, I was in a different country and found someone on daft with an attic for 1000 euros.
I did my research and found that it is too much but that attic was huge so I thought I'll take that for a month then find another place to live.
Her name was Maria, we had some nice chat about dublin and the place and thought she was trustworthy and when I asked for her contact details, she said she only has paypal and revolut which i did not have.
I asked my friend to pay her and her name came up as Abdul.
I started doubting and asked her questions to which her answers seemed sus.
Then I told her to send me a bank account with maria name and she (HE*) abused and laughed and blocked me.

Horrible incident when you're away tbh.
