Do you think it's a tired argument when people scapegoat the New Gen era and Bret Shawn and Diesel for not drawing?
All business was flat during this time. No one in WCW was drawing big money. Even when Savage and Hogan joined, there was no spike. In fact WCW never made a dollar in profit until the late 90's, but you never hear Flair and Sting and were terrible draws. Even though early WCW has ppvs with even lower numbers than Diesel who is supposed to be the worst draw ever.
I remember reading that Summerslam 95 headlined by Diesel had a higher buyrate than WCW"s ppv that month, which was headlined by none other than Hulk Hogan.
