Quail Coop Questions

Hey everyone! We are thinking of getting quails over chickens. I want to get a coop with a decent size run for them. My issue is most of our yard where we would put the enclosure has a ton of vole/molecules tunnels/hills. I really wanted to have the quality be able to forage in the yard on the ground. If we have this issue, will they be ok or do we need to put hardware cloth down and then put dirt/Shavings (something organic) on top of it for them? Or will they be ok with grass and stuff growing up through? Sorry if this sounds dumb I grew up with horses and cows and this wasn't an issue 😂. Just wanted to ask in here from quail owners before I go down the Google rabbit hole researching. Thanks!
