The Filled Cup
Hello. This idea is just several hours old.
I was eating lunch earlier with the intent to write something today regarding life and death but something else came to mind.
It's about the current state of the world.
You see, while I was eating this really nice jacket potatoes with cheese and onion and an added serving of coleslaw, I got so full, I was not able to finish it. To be fair to me, it was a pretty big potato. I got to thinking about greed and how utterly it has wreaked havoc to the lives of people since time began. How insatiable greed is.
Nations were enslaved and pillaged on the order of men greedy for more. People of lesser means are abused. Most men slave away at their job(s) to make ends meet. Life should not consist mostly of our 8-4 jobs. We do it nonetheless to survive. There is no other option.
Then I think of my full belly. My cup has been filled. I am satiated.
It led me to idea of The Filled Cup.
Let me advise immediately that this, right now, is wishful thinking. I have no doubts it will not happen my lifetime. I just want this out there to put the idea in somebody's mind. If Idiocracy became true, maybe this can, too.
I googled the richest man today and it showed Elon Musk at 800B USD.
Let us presume he earned it through honest to goodness hard work and perseverance. How much money does he need to live very comfortably? 1B USD a year? The Filled Cup is limiting the MAX Worth of an individual. The excess would need to be divided to the people working in his corporations and to charity. It will ensure that the men will be capped, their cup will be filled during their lifetime and their children now.
How many lifetimes does 800B cover? How many families could it have helped? Imagine if portions of it went to provide free healthcare? To free education? To research? To affordable housing?
We hear a lot about big corporations and how badly they treats their employees. How much more do they want? The problem is the rich keep amassing wealth they do not even need in several lifetimes.
Everybody will have a better quality of life. Imagine if you earn enough where you can afford working for 6 months and be on holiday for the other 6.
What is the benefit to the billionaires? They will be called the Benefactors of Humanity. They can roam freely without bodyguards and enjoy life, the world, without any fear of being kidnapped or shot to death by people whose lives and families they could have destroyed by continuing being greedy.
Of course, this capping will be regulated very strictly. Once proven that the regulators have bent or broken the rules, they will be stripped of their positions. Their access to free education and health care will also be taken away.
Other inputs are welcome.
Again, this is wishful thinking.
Share what you think.
