How Do You Deal With Fobby Parents

How do you make middle eastern immigrant fobby parents understand to treat others how u want to be treated? They only understand the concept when something bothers them but they do the same thing they don't like to others. How do you reason with people who completely disregard what you say and choose when and how they want do things when they feel like it? It comes down to the pettiest things and its so unbearable to deal with. At times I've had to not share things, keep quiet and do it myself to keep my peace, but as I am an adult now. I do crave to have support, understanding, and respect by my parents. However, I sometimes wonder if thats actually possible without betrraying myself. And I've kind of gotten to a point in life where I don't like independence because its pretty lonely when I've achieved my goals, but I sometimes want to ask for help and have support when I need. I have best friends who are supportive, but they also have their own life (which I respect and don't rely on) and sometimes you need family to really be there for you. With all due respect, I don't consider myself I don't really believe in cutting people off, but do I have to put them at a distance forever? Is it possible for them to even be reasonable? And if so, to what cost?
