integrating into reddit communities

I've had this account for a long time but havent accrewed much of any karma as I just passively scroll reddit. I want to start becoming active in subreddits so I'm able to post things; where would anyone recommend first? I feel like i often dont have much to contribute to most posts so I dont want to just spam comment in attempt to karma farm.
