ISAK Japan Nomination, Final Stages of the Selection Process and Experience Inquiries
Hi everyone! My name is Vlad. I’m from Ukraine and currently living in Canada.
I was recently given an offer to be nominated by the UWC National Committee of Canada for UWC ISAK Japan, and I’m very thrilled about this opportunity. My family and I are now trying to better understand some of the practical side of the transition, and I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar experience.
A few things I’m especially curious about:
- Has anyone here applied through one country while being only a temporary resident there, and then gone to study in another country?
- If so, did that create any issues with the UWC selection process, visas, travel, or re-entry later?
- What is student life at UWC ISAK Japan actually like day to day?
- How do school breaks usually work in practice?
- What do students do if they cannot easily return to their home country during breaks?
- How does support for international students work there in real life?
- Were there any hidden costs or practical things you wish you had known in advance?
If anyone has experience with UWC ISAK Japan, or with a similar cross-country UWC path, I’d be very grateful to hear from you. Happy to chat here or by DM.
Thank you very much!
