Does appearance change how people treat you online?

Just a small discussion/vent. Recently, two people from this subreddit started talking to me. The conversations were normal and actually pretty nice. But the moment they saw my face, they suddenly stopped replying. Just ghosted. I’m a black guy, so it made me wonder whether appearance or race sometimes changes how people treat you online. Not posting this to find anyone or start conversations, just curious about other people’s experiences. Has something like this happened to you where someone’s behavior changed after seeing what you look like?
