Hey dad, I’m anxious
I’ll be 18 in a few months, and I’m scared to progress in life and see what’s next. My life at home isn’t the best. My mom gets angry a lot, and I get very stressed out here. I want to move out, but I have nothing so far that’ll help me get there.
I don’t have a drivers permit or license yet, and I don’t have a job yet. My parents have also been against me getting a job because they say that I simply don’t need it, and to just focus on my studies. Even with that, I don’t know what I want to do in college and they expect me to stick with one path and go with it. I know they’re trapping me by not letting me out to make myself financially independent. And also with driving, I don’t even know if they’d let me drive and do stuff by myself, considering my older sibling who’s an adult still needs to ask for permission to go somewhere and gets driven there.
I know I need to get started on getting my license, but hearing about the world and thinking about how my parents would react to me trying to become independent makes me want to not try anymore. I’m scared of being a girl out there too. I don’t believe in myself enough to get through this and out of here, and I wish I did. What scares me the most is rebelling against my parents, since I never really did and I tried my best to cause as little trouble as I could.
Dad, I’m just so anxious about starting all of this and if I can even handle myself when I do get out. I’m scared of the future. I feel scared of the world, but I want to be stronger.
