Could Minecraft Legacy Console Edition run on a smart google tv?

:red_parrot: Discussion

So I recently saw that the source code for Minecraft Legacy Console Edition (the old Xbox 360 and PS3 version) got leaked and people are starting to compile it on pc through projects like MinecraftConsoles and ports like 4JCraft.

I used to play the Xbox 360 version a lot, but my Xbox broke down a while ago. Recently I was messing around with my hisense google tv and realized it's actually capable of running some pretty heavy apps. I even managed to get Roblox working on it and played using a Bluetooth Xbox controller.

That made me wonder if something like this might be possible.

From what I understand:

  • Legacy Console Edition was optimized for systems with very little RAM (Xbox 360 had ~512mb)
  • My TV has about 2gb ram and runs Google Tv / Android Tv
  • I can connect an Xbox controller via Bluetooth
  • The project 4JCraft is trying to port the game to Linux and eventually Android

So theoretically if an android or linux build existed, could something like this run on a smart TV?

I'm curious if anyone here has tried compiling it for Android or Android Tv, or if the hardware in a TV like this would actually be capable of running it.

tldr:
Could a smart TV realistically run Legacy Console Edition if someone ported it, or are there technical limitations I'm missing?

I'm mostly asking out of curiosity because it would be kind of cool to basically turn a TV into a mini legacy Minecraft console.
