What do Americans think of the American Service Members’ Protection Act?

POLITICS

Hi, I am not American, and I recently came across the American Service Members’ Protection Act.

I was curious how Americans who know about it tend to view it. Do you see it mainly as a reasonable way to protect U.S. service members and officials from an international court the U.S. never joined? Or do you see it more as an excessive or symbolic rejection of international law?

I am also wondering whether this is something ordinary Americans are generally aware of, or whether it is mostly discussed by people who follow politics, foreign policy, or law.

I am not trying to start an argument. I am mainly interested in how Americans would place this law politically and culturally, and how they personally react to it.
