Giant pileated woodpecker

Saw one in our front yard today and it is as big as a hawk. It has a large wingspan and looks very nice when flying… I have seen a small or normal pileated woodpecker some years ago.

We have red belly and downy most of the year in this area. I saw a redhead , also a few years ago. It was a very good looking bird…

Is this a common sighting in southeast Texas ?
