Hoka Cliftons/debris inside shoe

I anticipated wearing Hoka Cliftons on the CF, but different than other shoes I have worn, road/trail debris seems to jump inside shoes. It’s bothersome. Has anyone else experienced this? May reconsider this shoe for my summer Camino.
