Adapter?

Keep in mind im completely new to this, I'm thinking about getting the Moondrop CHU II with the 3.5mm cable, and I have an iphone, so I wanted to know, do I need a whole DAC, or should I just get a small adapter for my IEMS? I need a 3.5mm to lightning. And I wanted to know if the adapter matter or just any adapter would do the job.
