No dad to help me - something reliable?

As the title says, it’s all up to me so I’d be grateful for advice. I’m a broke Canadian college student who’s getting his license late and looking to get a car that’ll last me maybe a decade?

I’m hoping to spend around 10,000(CAD), I can stretch for a bit more by scraping into some braces funds. I just need to get to and from places without worrying about the car breaking down so a sexy car isn’t the top of my list just yet.

I’ve been told a Corolla, but I honestly have no idea. I don’t know much about cars as I dont have a family car or a dad who could help me out with this. It’s a little embarrassing as I’m getting my license a little late as well due to money struggles, I’d appreciate any advice.

If there’s any places you guys would recommend for me to get knowledgeable on stuff like this I appreciate that too. There’s so much out there and it’s overstimulating.
