I love resident evil requiem!

I just want to rant about the game :)

Some minor spoilers related to gameplay!

I love resident evil requiem so much. I got into resident evil roughly around the release of re4r and I fell in love with the series (especially Leon) and I was so excited to hear Leon would be returning. My expectations were blown away with the release- I fell in love with Graces character almost immediately and Leon was the most vulnerable I’ve ever seen which I adored!!!

I think what really made me fall in love with the game was the attention to detail and the difference in gameplay between Leon and Grace. Although quite different, it reminds me of re1 with Jill and Chris; their unique mechanics that aligned with their characters. I loved how intense and terrifying Graces gameplay was BECAUSE shes a newbie. I like how much she stumbles and trips because she’s so scared. The fact they added her shaking hands and the stabilizer feature to help her handle guns better is so fun! And when she first uses the requiem you see her response from the intense recoil. I also love how Graces section is sort of a mixture of re2r and re7/re8. I love how they brought back the survival feeling in her section because it feels like you start with NOTHING and have to rummage around just to survive. It makes it all the more intense and terrifying!!!

And of course, Leon’s section I adore. I already love Leon so it’s hard to hate. Plus I loved the stark difference between his and Graces gameplay. The ridiculous action got me laughing so much, it reminded me of re6 levels of crazy (though WAY better executed). I love how many different melee animations he has (and I love how Grace can only push people lol). His reload animations were ALSO my favorite- the way he held the flashlight between his cheek and shoulder when he reloaded his handgun was such a fun detail- along with the (I believe) shotgun reload- the way it was so casual. I loved how when you played Leon it felt like you were far more in control- you weren’t as scared because of his different gameplay style and mechanics and it makes sense too since he’s a veteran.
