Nurse said Ureaplasma is not serious + Constanant STD anxiety
Hello. Im based in Canada. I have only ever been with one person in my life. We were together for like 3 - 4 years. Not been sexually active since 2022 till now. Some months after we broke up, I had no symptoms at all! but decided to just randomly get tested one day. I tested + for Chlamydia and took my medications. Got re tested after and it was negative.
Since then I have had anxiety about carrying an STD that I am unaware off and worse - passing it on to a furure partner especially after my previous experience where I had 0 symptoms at all during and after my relationship but tested + for an STD.
I have had like 2 Yeast infections in 2020 or so and did have symptoms but that was cleared after we found the root cause and I took medications. I also had BV in 2022 and 2023 and we also found the root cause and that was cured as well. I did experience itching and bad discharge for both except for the second time I had BV, I didn't even know I had it and I showed (or personally noticed no symptom) . I had just gone in for one of my STD testing again due to my anxiety and I got a call back saying only BV was positive or so.
So Every year since then (2022) I have done the standard STD panel test in Ontario, Canada and they have always been negative. But I still keep doing them out of anxiety and fear of carrying something I dont know and possibly infecting an innocent person. I have fear of having herpes or HPV but I havent had any signs or warts or symptoms so Im more relaxed.
Last year Sept I had worn my menstural pad during my menses longer than usual one day. I also know I wore it for too long. After that day, I noticed itching on my skin above my clitoral area. The itching was quite severe and would come and go randomly (like once to three times a week) until Dec when it stopped. I did see a doc in Nov and was given one pill for Yeast infection which I took but idk if it did anything because I tested Negative for yeast.
Like once or twice during the whole time too, I would notice a little bit of a weird smell. My discharge would also be light yellow but I learnt this could be normal based on my cycle?
Since December, I havent had any issues. No smell or itch or weird discharge. Only on like 2 occassions when I noticed itching down there in the same spot and I either changed or removed my underwear to let my kitty breathe and immediately the itching stopped. And ever since I have improved the hygeine, I haven't had any issues - up till now. It's like nothing ever happened.
Back to the same Dec last year, I saw a nurse & doc again checked down there and said the skin where I was itching did look somehow probably from all the itching. I did another STD test and some swabs. Tested Negative for all tests including Trich, Yeast & BV. Doctor suggested I might have "Lichen Simplex Chronicus". But she also tested for Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma. I tested positive for Ureaplasma Parvum. And the result said "may or may not be cause of symptoms."
In February when I got the call back. The nurse I spoke to over the phone said I should not worry about Ureaplasma as sometimes it can be a normal finding in the tract? And since I have no symptoms, its a good sign. But if i have any symptoms i should get checked again. I still havent had any symptoms till now but im afraid the Ureaplasma might be serious in me and I might infect my future partner (as im now in a relationship). Now im worried about any other STD or STI I carry and don't know especially with no symptoms.
I currently travelled outside Canada and im in a West African country so I can easily buy stuff from the pharmacy. I will attach images of the drugs (doxy & Azithromycine) I bought after doing some research online. My anxiety now is worse and im really really scared. I dont wanna self medicated and probably harm myself but im also scared.
